Hybrid Inspection Robot for Indoor and Outdoor Surveys

In this paper, simulation and experimental tests are reported for a hybrid robot being used indoor outdoor inspections. Automatic or tele-operated surveys can be performed by mobile robots, which represent the most efficient solution in terms of power consumption, control, robustness, overall costs. context structures infrastructure inspection, robots must able to move on horizontal sloped surfaces overpass obstacles. mechatronic design, simulations, activity proposed inspections, when environmental conditions do not allow autonomous navigation. particular, is equipped with external internal sensors acquire information main structural elements, avoiding need experienced personnel directly inside inspection site, taking from environment aiding pilot understand best maneuvers/decisions take. Given current state research shortcomings worldwide, paper discusses into account issues their use, functionality standard systems, how set order improve robots’ performances. On basis, an illustrative study case proposed.
